Target audience

This course suits people who have been nominated as a fire warden or emergency officer within a workplace Emergency Control Organisation. It is well suited to workers who need to understand their warden responsibilities, and to people who have previously completed warden training and want a practical refresher.

You do not need a formal qualification outcome. You need to be confident in your role and prepared to act in a workplace emergency.

Course delivery

The course is delivered entirely online, with no need to travel to a training facility. You complete the learning at your own pace, then schedule a short verbal assessment with one of our qualified trainers.

How it works:

  1. Complete the online learning module (approximately 1.5 hours, self-paced)
  2. Complete the interactive self-marked quiz
  3. Schedule your verbal competency assessment (approximately 20 minutes, conducted by phone or video call with a qualified trainer)

Once you pass the verbal assessment, your certificate is issued. Most students complete the full course in under two hours.

Entry requirements

To enrol in this course you will need:

  • Basic computer literacy and access to the internet
  • Sufficient English language, literacy and numeracy skills to participate in training and complete the assessment
  • The ability to communicate verbally with a trainer for the final assessment, by phone or video call

There are no formal prerequisite qualifications for this course.

No. This is a non-accredited course. It provides practical training in fire warden responsibilities but does not result in a nationally recognised qualification. If your workplace or employer requires accreditation, please see our face-to-face Fire Warden course (PUAFER005).

Most workplaces accept non-accredited training for fire warden roles, particularly for refreshers or where a full qualification is not required by legislation. We recommend checking your workplace emergency management policy or speaking with your Work Health and Safety officer before enrolling.

After completing the online module and quiz, one of our qualified trainers will contact you to conduct a short verbal assessment by phone or video call. This takes approximately 20 minutes. You do not need to travel anywhere.
